The Snowy River Team would like to introduce you to Szabolcs Lehoczki-Krsjak, as its assistant plant breeder. Szab has a PhD in Plant Pathology and is a former Senior Research Scientist. Szab joined the Snowy River Team in 2016 and oversees the planting and management of both hybrid and inbred trials, as well as inbred development nurseries and workshops. Szab manages the region from the bottom of Australia (in Orbost) all the way to nearly the top, in Bowen where Snowy runs its winter nursery. Snowy also has a nursery half way between these two locations, in Gatton in south east Queensland. In the 12 months that Szab has been with Snowy he has managed 3 nurseries and 6 hybrid trials.

Szab’s travelling won’t be restricted to the domestic travel in Australia. He will also be closely involved in monitoring and evaluating the hybrid trials in Europe, especially those in Hungary, a key sweet corn market for Snowy River Seeds.
